Two short holidays in a row. First, to Ireland, where we began by driving around the Ring of Kerry, stopping at various beaches and beautiful views as we went. Gorgeous.
Then a trip to Skellig Michael. Unforgettable. Atmospheric, dangerous. Puffins huddling in every crack in the rocks. It’s hard to get a place on one of the boats that lands - but try anyway. A real experience. Avoid if you don’t like heights and terrifying steep drops.
Finally, a night or two in Killarney and a walk through the Gap of Dunloe, followed by a wonderful boat trip through the lakes of Killarney National Park. The water levels were so low (thanks to the summer heatwave) that the boat scraped the bottom several times.
Later, we spent a week in Antibes. Did a bit of snorkelling. B and I went for a dive. It was hot and delicious and expensive.
