- Something about the light ()
The light this week! The light! Even in strong sun, in the middle of the day, it’s been so beautiful outside. Kate and I tend to go out for a wind-down-after-work walk in the early evenings. We don’t go far, and we live in a small town so there’s not many places to go, but […]
- Cumberwell and back ()
Went for a walk. A drag-the-teenager-along and talk-about-life sort of walk. It turned out lovely, actually. Even though we’ve lived here 16 years, we found a path we’ve never walked before. Amazing.
- Turleigh and Winsley and back ()
Went for a walk. A cloudy Saturday afternoon in a pandemic sort of walk.
- This cat is unimpressed by your human problems ()

- A short walk with a long lens ()
Another work day done at home, another walk in the early evening light before we go home for pasta and collapsing on the sofa. I took my DSLR and the 50-200mm lens, a combination I’ve ignored for ages. Tonight it’s a loop over the north end of town, past the deserted hotel and the stud […]
- Routes ()
Living in a small town, it can be hard to find new places to walk when we go for our daily exercise. I mean, it’s easy if you get togged up with the full walking boots and go out of town, into the countryside (unlike Snowdonia, the local footpaths are pretty empty). But it’s hard […]
- Bees ()
I took this last Monday, 16 March, which was the last time I left the house for a walk. I’m no horticulturalist, so I have no idea what this plant is, growing on top of a garden wall in a street not far from my house. But as I passed beneath it, ducking my head […]
