April - August 1999
There comes a time in everyone's life when without warning they develop and interest in gardening. It's nothing to worry about, it's quite normal in fact, but for me and Kate it has just come a little bit early.
Perhaps we are prematurely middle-aged. Perhaps we're just too boring. Anyway, we decided that we needed more space for herbs, vegetables, and a few flowers. A good deal of planning and Gardener's World programs later, we felt ready to begin.
You can watch in horror as both of us turn into Alan Titchmarsh... or you can get bang up to date by seeing what the harvest brought in.
Having done all this work, you will not be surprised to hear that I have strong views about slugs.
