Hi Claire. I had an idea the other day, which I've been turning over in my head ever since. Hope you don't mind if I run it past you. Everyone's into apps now. This was brought home to me recently during a chat with my barber, who described buying an iPhone and how the culture of smartphones had completely changed his daily life. Even going to the pub for a pint has changed, because as he put it, "People routinely whip out their phones to show each other the latest apps. You see it happening everywhere." I think he's right. Apps have become part of the media landscape alongside TV and radio. They are everywhere. When a man came to fix my dishwasher the other week, he took removed a defunct part and ordered a replacement on the spot using an app on his phone. So I started wondering: what about an apps column? Would PA be interested in running a new column dedicated to reviewing apps? Not just iOS apps, but Android and Windows Phone apps too? Possible formats, assuming a column length of about 500 words: - 10 x 50 word app reviews, each with score out of five or 10 (offers customers maximum flexibility, they can just use as much as they have room for) - 1 x 200 word lead ("App of the week"), plus between four and six smaller nibs (50-70 words each) - 3 x 100 words main reviews, plus nibs. ... or any other combination you can think of. For pictures, we could supply screenshots and/or app icons which are usually quite colourful. I know this territory very well. I could get a column up and running in no time. What do you say?
